that I get asked for help with.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As it goes we are ready to put in the time for the three main meal preps but when it comes to snacking we are still in the grab and go mindset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">So with that in mind I offer up to you the Homemade Trail Mix. \u00a0No fixed recipe to follow and virtually no preparation time. \u00a0Mix and match your favourite nuts, seeds and berries. \u00a0You can make a large batch and dip in to it as needed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Have this on hand all of the time.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The good fats, protein and fiber in your trail mix will satisfy you when hunger pangs begin and will help to stabilize your blood sugar as it begins to dip between meals. \u00a0In doing so you will avoid the need for a mid afternoon nap or the urge to tear a strip off of a bad driver on your way home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Just to give you a glimpse of the healthy benefits of the trail mix that I made, here is today&#8217;s creation (I use raw, unsalted nuts and seeds):<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Brazil Nuts<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Most notably brazil nuts are a good source of selenium. \u00a0As with most nuts they contain healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, protein and fiber.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Cashews<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Cashews are a source of monounsaturated fats, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber and protein.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Almonds<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Almonds are a source of vitamins, notably vitamin E, minerals, monounstaturated fats, fiber and protein.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Goji Berries<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Goji berries are a power packed little berry. \u00a0They contain fiber, vitamins, notably A &amp; C, minerals and are great antioxidants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Manuka Raisins<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I LOVE Manuka raisins. \u00a0My favourite trail mix sweetener. \u00a0They are good source of fiber, contain calcium, antioxidants and they contain oleanolic acid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Dried Aronia Berries<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A nice counterbalance to Manuka raisins, \u00a0these berries are a little bit on the bitter side. \u00a0Their benefits include being high in antioxidants, high in anthocyanin concentration and high in proanthocyanidins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Dried Pomegranate berries<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">These are a treat. \u00a0Really tasty and high in antioxidants and fiber.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Sunflower seeds<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Sunflower seeds are a good source of vitamin E, selenium and magnesium.<\/p>\n<p>So be creative. \u00a0You can used pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate chips, puffed quinoa. \u00a0The sky is the limit and changing things up means you won&#8217;t get tired of it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Snacks are by far the number one &#8220;food group&#8221;
