Once you get the hang of it, you\u2019ll wonder how you ever survived without it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">So let\u2019s set you up for success.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\"><strong>Get Organized<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">For me, a crucial aspect of meal prepping is getting organized. This means before I step foot into the grocery store, I want to have all of my containers washed and ready to go.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">I recommend using glass storage containers for food prepping and storage.\u00a0 Glass containers last forever, are easy to clean and don\u2019t contain harmful chemicals. Stay away from plastics! As well, look for a variety of sizes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Also, make sure to invest in enough containers to last you all week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">You also want to make sure your containers are travel-friendly, so you don\u2019t experience any spills along the way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Once you have your containers, it\u2019s time to start the grocery list.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\"><strong>Make Your List<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7821 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/checklist-1622517_640-300x300.png\" alt=\"Checklist\" width=\"196\" height=\"196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/checklist-1622517_640-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/checklist-1622517_640-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/checklist-1622517_640.png 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 196px) 100vw, 196px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">I love making lists. This way, I don\u2019t forget anything I need.\u00a0 Lists also allow you to group like items together, so you\u2019re not wasting time at the store going back and forth between aisles and departments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Before you can make your list, you need to know what you\u2019re making.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">How to find the recipes is really up to you. Some people like to peruse the internet and apps like Pinterest for tasty recipes throughout the week. Others enjoy looking through cookbooks while having their morning coffee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">While you\u2019re likely to come across a ton of tasty sounding dishes, keep in mind too many recipes can also be overwhelming. To save time, and to go easy on your wallet, look for recipes with similar ingredients for the week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">If you\u2019re new to cooking or meal prepping, there\u2019s nothing wrong with starting with just a couple of recipes to prep for the week to get you going.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\"><strong>How Are You Prepping?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">When it comes to how you meal prep, you have many options.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\"><strong>Types of meal prep include:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Full make-ahead meals: You cook an entire meal and store it in your fridge or freezer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Batch cooking or freezing: Make multiple meals, then portion and store them. This approach is useful for recipes you can easily cook in large amounts (like big pots of soup, rice, or mashed sweet potatoes).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Meals for one: Prepare food and portion it in single-serving containers. (Usually enough to last a few days)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Ingredient prep: For people who like to cook and serve food all at once, just prep parts of recipes. Chop veggies, mix spices, or marinate meat in advance to save time when you\u2019re ready to cook.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-7822\" src=\"https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/cooking-4206076_640-300x232.png\" alt=\"meal prep\" width=\"191\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/cooking-4206076_640-300x232.png 300w, https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/cooking-4206076_640.png 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 191px) 100vw, 191px\" \/>The best part is you don\u2019t have to choose just one option!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">While you&#8217;re prepping your lunches for the week, let\u2019s say,\u00a0 you know you\u2019ll need chopped onions and carrots for at least one dinner. Prep everything at once and store the dinner ingredients separately.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">What a time-saver!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\"><strong>And Here Are Other Benefits To Meal Prepping<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">When done right, meal prep can save you money. Meal prepping allows you to save money by purchasing items in bulk and freezing for later use. Always stock up on staples like olive oil, spices, and condiments when they&#8217;re on sale.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Meal prepping also helps you reduce waste. When you\u2019re portioning out your servings for the week, you know exactly how much to make and how much you have. So, no more forgotten leftovers in the back of the fridge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Finally, unlike processed meals, this method gives you total control over what goes into your food\u2014perfect for anyone who wants to stay on track with their health goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\"><strong>Tips To Top It All Off<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">When you first start meal prepping, there are some mistakes I want to help you avoid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Don\u2019t overwhelm yourself with too many new or complex recipes with a long list of ingredients. It\u2019s easy to get swept away with yummy and exotic-sounding new dishes\u2014start simple, with recipes you already know how to make and know you like.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Make sure to plan meals that will help keep you feeling satisfied throughout the day.
