{"id":738,"date":"2015-12-16T15:20:51","date_gmt":"2015-12-16T20:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cathybiase.com\/?p=738"},"modified":"2015-12-16T15:20:51","modified_gmt":"2015-12-16T20:20:51","slug":"holidayimmuneboosting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/index.php\/2015\/12\/16\/holidayimmuneboosting\/","title":{"rendered":"Tips for Keeping Your Immune System Humming During the Holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Holiday season is in full swing. \u00a0Planning, purchasing, partying. \u00a0It\u2019s the one time of year to forget all the rules and just enjoy. \u00a0And I am all in for that. \u00a0I really am.<\/p>\n<p>So I am not going to harp on the fact that things like stress, lack of sleep, shortened daylight hours and sugar can weaken your immune system leaving you vulnerable to things like colds and flus.\u00a0\u00a0 I am not. \u00a0There will not be a naughty list.<\/p>\n<p>What I am going to do is write a nice list. \u00a0A few easy things that can help you to stay on your healthy track and carry you seamlessly in to 2016.<\/p>\n<p>So here we go.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Write yourself lists. \u00a0Trying to remember all that you need to do, buy, pick up, drop off is stressful! \u00a0Lists are an easy way to take this aspect of stress out of your holiday season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Before your party have a snack to curb your appetite. \u00a0A little bit of fullness goes a long way to avoiding the dessert tray.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Pass on the mixed drink and grab a glass of red wine. \u00a0Mixed drinks are full of sugar. \u00a0Red wine is fermented!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Drink water under the mistletoe. \u00a0Alcohol is dehydrating. \u00a0Water is not. \u00a0The Ying to the alcohol Yang.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Right hand nuts, left hand cookie tray (or vice versa if you are a lefty). \u00a0Nuts contain healthy fats, fiber and protein. \u00a0Most cookies do not.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Grab a plate. \u00a0Fill it up. \u00a0Move away. \u00a0Don\u2019t graze around food table.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Stand while you talk. \u00a0Sitting too long slows everything down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>After a wonderful evening out, go home, shut down all your gizmos, turn off all the lights and get some sleep. \u00a0Quantity at this time of year may be wishful thinking so we are going for quality here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>When a new day begins, hydrate with water and take your vitamin D. \u00a0Our shortened days at this time of year severely impede our ability to get vitamin D naturally. \u00a0Vitamin D is essential for immunity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Then recharge with a healthy breakfast and look forward to another great day!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and health and happiness in 2016!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Holiday season is in full swing. \u00a0Planning, purchasing, partying. \u00a0It\u2019s the one time of year to forget all the rules and just enjoy. \u00a0And I am all in for that. &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/index.php\/2015\/12\/16\/holidayimmuneboosting\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">Tips for Keeping Your Immune System Humming During the Holidays<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":742,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[29],"tags":[136,137,138,43],"class_list":["post-738","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-lifestyle","tag-holidays","tag-immunity","tag-lists","tag-nutrition"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
