And the smoke that results from fat that drips and burns on the grill contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Both of these chemicals have been linked to various types of cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">So, my intention is not to be a buzz kill here but to give you some tips to help you reduce the formation of these chemicals and keep you healthy!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #9dbfad;\">10 Tips For Healthier BBQing<\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Clean any char that has built up on your grill before you start cooking<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Lower the temperature and cook for a longer period of time<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Choose leaner cuts of meat<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Grill small portions. This reduces the time on the grill<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Remove skin and fat to reduce the dripping that leads to fire flares<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Avoid placing your food directly over the fire<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Grill on cedar planks<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Have a spray bottle filled with water handy to douse fire flare-ups<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\">Include fruits and veggies! BBQing isn\u2019t just for meat.\u00a0 In fact some of my favourite grilled food has nothing to do with meat at all.\u00a0 You can grill all kinds of veggies on the grill.\u00a0 And for desert how about grilled pineapple with cinnamon (a family favourite). Or grilled peaches.\u00a0 Just yummy!\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7366 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Untitled-design-25-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Untitled-design-25-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Untitled-design-25.png 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 201px) 100vw, 201px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>10.<\/strong><span style=\"color: #386c9a;\"> Marinate your food and include heaps of herbs. This ups the flavour and\u00a0 limits the formation of carcinogens.
