Black Bean Brownies Anyone?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Like many, Christmas time for our family is rich with tradition. \u00a0Family get togethers, tree cutting and decorating and our annual family skate at Nathan Phillips Square to name a few. \u00a0But perhaps most anticipated each year is my Christmas baking. \u00a0The same festive treats have been attached to our family Christmas since our kids began experiencing the wonders of the season. \u00a0Perhaps the allure lies in the fact that I only bake these squares, cookies and tarts once a year.<\/p>\n<p>When I made my turn on to the nutritionist highway my family adapted well to the changes that I started to implement in to our diets. \u00a0There were many successful changes, a few flops and some compromises. \u00a0And one ultimatum, Christmas baking was off limits to change. \u00a0Fair enough. \u00a0Our old faithfuls remain unchanged. \u00a0But there was a loophole. \u00a0Anything new I wanted to try was fair game.<\/p>\n<p>Soooo this year I made brownies. \u00a0Black bean brownies. \u00a0And they are dandy. \u00a0Gluten free. \u00a0Full of fibre and protein. \u00a0And they are spanking easy to make.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t share the ingredient list with the kids because, well you know. \u00a0I wanted a fair shot. And I got it and these brownies passed the taste test.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the recipe. \u00a0Feel free to improvise. \u00a0You can add chocolate chips and\/or nuts and even a splash of peppermint or orange to bring them in to the Christmas season.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/brownieresize.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1341 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/brownieresize.jpg\" alt=\"brownieresize\" width=\"379\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Black Bean Brownies<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-ingredient=\"black+beans\">1 14 oz can Eden Black Beans (rinse them well)<\/li>\n<li data-ingredient=\"eggs\">3 eggs<\/li>\n<li data-ingredient=\"oil\">3 \u00a0TBSP coconut oil<\/li>\n<li data-ingredient=\"vanilla\">1 teaspoon vanilla<\/li>\n<li data-ingredient=\"vanilla\">3\/4 cup cane sugar<\/li>\n<li data-ingredient=\"vanilla\">1 TBSP Flax Seed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350F\/180C.<\/li>\n<li>Grease bottom of an 8 x 8 cooking pan with coconut oil or line with parchment paper.<\/li>\n<li>Throw everything in to a food processor and blend until smooth.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to you pan and bake 25-30 minutes being careful not to over bake them.<\/li>\n<li>When done let sit for 5 minutes then transfer to a cooling rack.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the brownies when they are completely cooled.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like many, Christmas time for our family is rich with tradition. \u00a0Family get togethers, tree cutting and decorating and our annual family skate at Nathan Phillips Square to name a &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/cathybiase.com\/index.php\/2016\/12\/10\/holiday-baking-time-black-bean-brownies-anyone\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">It&#8217;s Holiday Baking Time!
