But if there is one thing that I would truly love to get across to you is to have the confidence to go off the grid and experiment with new ingredients either in a whole new creation or by incorporating them in to family favourites. \u00a0There will be successes and there will be failures. \u00a0But it&#8217;s all a process.<\/p>\n<p>Variety is not only the spice of life but it is also key to getting the wide array of important nutrients in to your diet that your body needs to function at its best and fight off disease.<\/p>\n<p>So take an old favourite and enhance it by adding a superfood like hemp hearts. \u00a0Or replace some of the usual ingredients with something new and see how it flies.<\/p>\n<p>This easy recipe is a twist on the conventional Greek Salad. \u00a0The addition of the black rice to the quinoa makes the salad a bit chewy adding a nice texture to it. \u00a0I added hemp hearts to pump it up.<\/p>\n<p>This recipe does not have any greens in it. \u00a0 But here is your chance to be creative. \u00a0If the mood hits you try adding some spinach or arugula.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Grainy Greek Salad<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>2\/3 cup quinoa<\/p>\n<p>1\/3 cup Black rice<\/p>\n<p>2 cups water, salted<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 english cucumber, chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 small red onion, diced<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 avocado, chopped<\/p>\n<p>1 tomato, chopped<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup pitted Kalamata olives<\/p>\n<p>1 Tbsp. Hemp Hearts<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 cup Greek Feta Cheese<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Dressing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>2 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil<\/p>\n<p>1 TBSP Apple Cider Vinegar<\/p>\n<p>1\/8 tsp. Honey<\/p>\n<p>Juice of 1\/2 lemon<\/p>\n<p>2 tsp. dried oregano<\/p>\n<p>Salt and Pepper to taste<\/p>\n<p>Mix all ingredient together well.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Bring water to boil and add salt<\/li>\n<li>Add quinoa and rice. \u00a0Cook until tender and let cool<\/li>\n<li>Place rest of ingredients in bowl. \u00a0Add cooled quinoa and rice<\/li>\n<li>Add prepared dressing to ingredients and toss<\/li>\n<li>Add salt and pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/black_200px_png321.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1001\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1001\" src=\"http:\/\/cathybiase.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/black_200px_png321.png\" alt=\"signature\" width=\"117\" height=\"70\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recipes certainly have a place in the kitchen \u00a0both as a source of inspiration and as a guideline for preparation.
